Every year on the second Wednesday in May we celebrate our receptionists on National Receptionist’s Day.
Without a receptionist, there’s no way an office could go about the day to day business smoothly, Receptionist’s Day celebrates these heroes of office life.
Wayne has been with us a few years now so we thought we would find out a bit more about him and what he does behind his receptionist’s desk.
Is your background customer service based?
At the age of 14, I was waiting on tables at Doodies in Hereford. After school I went on to the Technical College for two years studying Travel and Tourism – I originally wanted to work in the air!
I was employed by Denim Nation for 10 years working in customer service and administration until I joined the Kidwells team on reception in 2013.
What do you enjoy about being a receptionist?
I love the interaction with our clients both on the phone and face to face.
Do you have other responsibilities?
Yes, I help out the office manager with compliance issues. I also manage the barristers’ chambers. I work with our barristers and deal with the courts and third parties liaising with them all to ensure everyone is available when they need to be.
What do you enjoy outside of your job?
I love my holidays in the sun and have been lucky enough to have just enjoyed a combined trip to New York and Florida. There is not much better than an evening enjoying enjoyable food, wine and good company. I am also a bit of an aviation enthusiast. A day out walking with the dog at the weekend is always high on the tick list too.
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
Hopefully, I will have progressed within the company into a management role. If not, then waiting on tables in the sunshine in my flip flops!!
